Page 23 — Consumerism

Oh the effects of consumerism. This short film takes a stab at the whole ideal...through the facade of IKEA. Incredibly brilliant.

Chipotle Continues Its Awesome Streak

There are a myriad of reasons to love Chipotle Mexican Grill (I mean, for being fast, the food is pretty good) but the No. 1 reason? The company's Food With Integrity program, which pretty much brings awareness to the fabulous practice of sustainable farming. I mean, this national food chain goes the extra mile to purchase its produce from local farmers throughout the country (kinda like my glorious alma mater, Michigan State University). That's pretty amazing in and of itself.

Now, they've gone even further with this awesome viral pseudo-advertisement displaying Chipotle's beliefs through a sweet cartoon (to a chilling Willie Nelson cover of Coldplay's "The Scientist"). Check out the video below:

Note: If you live in Chicago or will be in the area on October 1, check out Chipotle's FREE Cultivate Chicago festival.

Making Viral Work

To promote his new album release last summer, rapper Eminem (of Detroit, Mich.) teamed up with the ShamWow spokesperson, Vince Shlomi, to create a viral marketing video, posing as an infomercial for Recovery (the album).

In order to stand out against the buzz that had been surrounding other upcoming releases from artists like Katy Perry and Drake, this trick Eminem pulled out of his sleeve was just the push his album needed to generate a lot of buzz (and shoot the disc to the top of the charts).

Did it ever. Recovery turned out to be the first album in two years to sell more than 700,000 (hard) copies its first week out and landed the rapper his sixth straight No. 1 album.
